ABOUT US

The Cleaner Coal Communities Coalition (C4) is a 501(c)4 organization whose mission is to support Colorado's transitioning coal communities. Based in Pueblo, CO, the organization began as a result of an almost year long review and study of what could best support the transition of a soon-to-be shuttered Coal Generation Plant in Pueblo, Colorado. As the owner of the Comanche Power Plant, XCEL Energy (PSCo) engaged community leaders to inform a study as to what would best support a Just Transition for the Pueblo Community after the early closure of Comanche Unit Three. The study noted that a truly just transition would ensure that the community could replace high paying jobs and that the community's tax-base would not suffer to protect local schools, NGOs and economic health. This led to the establishment of C4 and its mission to support Pueblo's future as a replacement for energy generation is explored.
